Field Logs: Log #22

As soon as I got out of the General's office I saw a Legion squad attempting to assault the head engineer. God, I had no idea they were already that close. Me, Craig and ED-E were able to neutralize them before they did any harm. We were going to give everything we got. This was the last stand.

We fought through the Power Plant and into the Dam's Lower Level. I started to fear for my ammo and health supplies. Should've re-supplied when I had the chance. We cleared all the Legionaries in the Lower Level - the ones making the ambush - and then returned to the Power Plant level.

I started looting the dead bodies as much as I could. I mean, my mission was to take out the Legate himself and we all knew only a portion of what he could do. I had to be prepared.

And finally we got to the exit. But outside there was hell too. We had help from Rangers, but even so it was hard. They didn't even make it to the Dam's checkpoint. So from there, we thought we were on our own.

It was pitch black dark when we got out of the checkpoint. Harder for them to see us, but harder for us to see them, too. But just when we were advancing Craig called me and told me to look back. A whole unit of Veteran Rangers was assigned to assist us with our assault on the camp. I told them to follow me, we would attack the Legate head on.

And so getting to the camp was easier than I expected. And there we were, at our enemy's base. The Rangers orders were that only one went to the camp with me. I spat on the ground, hoping they didn't see it. Inside the camp we killed all the legionaries. There weren't as much as I thought there'd be. But at the end of the camp, there he stood... The Legate. So big, so tough. I honestly didn't think we were a match for him.

But still, there he stood. I aimed my gun at him from the distance and saw him look right through the scope. He also thought we were no match for him, so he let me, on purpose, take the first shot. And by that shot, the battle was decided. He took the shot like the beast he was and ran towards us. Then everything happened very fast. I saw the Veteran Ranger being decapitated, then a huge, huge pain. even blacked out. When I woke up I couldn't feel my leg, the left one. Hell, I didn't have it. By my side there was ED-E, or what was left of him. Looked up and Lanius, full of holes, had trespassed Craig with his blade. I didn't scream, I couldn't. I reached for my gauss rifle and shot him one more time. That did it. I guessed. The shot made a blast - like any other gauss rifle shot - and when I was able to look at the Legate, he was gone. No body. Found both of his arms, his blade and his helmet, only. God damn it. GOD DAMN IT.

I was able to drag myself through the camp. Towards the end, General Oliver and his men appered. they grabbed me and took me away, because I needed medical assistance. The General talked with me while on transport. Telling me I did a damn fine job and that he was surprised I got out alive. What about Craig? And the fallen Rangers? ED-E, even. But I couldn't say that. Didn't have the strength in me. I asked what would happen next. He told me I'd be awarded with the Golden Branch and that the NCR would take control of the entire Mojave, at last.

Freedom for everyone. The Republic would assure that.

Everyone but me.

I'm a prisioner of my failures and my loneliness. I am a dying old man, with no leg. Lost all my friends, if I ever had any. Spent my life following orders. And this is where it led me. A life of endless roam, forever alone.

Frank over and out.

Field Logs: Log #21

We struggled with ourselves to get back to Hoover Dam. Fortunatle the President was coming to visit. Morale boost. As I said, God knows both meand Craig could use it.

On our way we were attacked by the Legionarie Assassin's squad. We were so full of anger and disgust that this one seemed the easiest squad to deal with so far. But then another one hit us. It was so unexpected, so close to one another that I was unprepared and they did a number on me.

We got to the Dam. Our base. The Republic's base. That does mean it is our base. We have prooven ourselves to be of the Republic, probably more than anyone else.

I reported to Colonel Moore and she was relieved that the Brotherhood had been eliminated. She... she... How can she say such things. How could she imagine what they got through and even what I, the killer, got through?!

My plans to boost morale with President Kimball were cut short when Moore assigned me to the security squad. She was sure the Legion would try to assassinate the President and I had to prevent it from happening, no matter what. It was a mission I took gladly, even in my state of mind. I was to report for duty to Ranger Grant.

When I reported, Grant told me we had much to do and not much time. Figures. I asked for everything, full access, visit itinerary and any other information they may have had. I had to look out for direct attacks and sabotages.

While checking the order dispach computer I noticed another person aside Ranger Grant. It changed the text, but it was still similar to Grant's writting. Probably whoever hacked it used a code so that we wouldn't know specifically what they were talking about. I only knew that I should beware of the sniping locations. I also found out that an engineer would be given access to the President's vertibird. Had to make sure he wasn't a saboteur.

Then I found a woman engineer who was looking for her friend, who was supposed to meet her there. Poor woman. I guessed she had lost her friend permanetly and the person who killed him took his engineer jumpsuit to sneak up to the vertibird. Shit.

I looked for the missing man around the visitor's centre. I found a bloodstain on the supply closet, with a bloody wrench next to it. He was dead alright. But no body.

I went ouside and checked the Visitor Centre's roof, where the vertibird would land. There was nothing there. Also checked the AA gun console and nothing unusual. Then Craig told me where would he be if he was the one sniping. The Visitor Centre's roof and the tower behing the stage. Those two were secured by our own Rangers, but the Legion could try something.

I took a deep breath. I couldn't do anything more but wait for the attackers to take action.

I reported to Ranger Grant and the vertibird appeared on the horizon right next. It landed safely. That's a victory already. Still need more victories, though. I didn't look away from the tower behind the stage. And, unfortunatly, it paid back. I saw someone appear behind the sniper and push him off the tower. I ran there as fast as I could. I couldn't let him take the shot. I got there and shot the bastard in the face, no questions asked. Couldn't afford the time for questions. I went back to the Visitor Centre's roof and examined the vertibird. It already had a bomb planted... Christ. I got nervous, but Craig told me to relax. The worst part was to find it, and that I had done. So I defused it and removed it, calmly.

I couldn't think of anything else. I was at the Centre's roof, preventing anyone to go there and kill the other sniper. I was sniping myself, taking a look around over the audience. There was only one engineer. It seemed fishy, but didn't actually mean anything.

And so the speech ended. Sadly, the President forgot the microphone was still on after he finished and we could all have a glimpse of what he thought of the Mojave's NCR. "Let's get fuck out of here." I... Sometimes I feel ashamed. But we have to live with rules and by the rules. So I keep supporting the NCR. To the end.

I reported back to Colonel Moore. She congratulated me on a job well done and told me to report to General Oliver, who had arrived in the meantime at Hoover Dam and was waiting for me in his office. Yes sir.

He was in a rush. told me we had to be quick if we wanted to keep the element of surprise. I didn't know what he was talking about though. He told me that because of the tasks I had completed we had conditions to attack directly The Fort. Once he told me that though, a soldier stormed in saying the Dam was under attack and that the Legionaries were coming from a camp from the eastern bank, cammanded by someone called Legate. So my new mission was to neutralize the Legate and stop the attack on the Dam.

I'm logging out for now.  Have to focus on the upcoming event. For the Republic.

Frank out.

Field Logs: Log #20

We went to HELIOS One, since Colonel Moore told us there was a passage there that led to the location where the Brotherhood had been spotted.

On our way there we were attacked by the Legion. They were more and more ferocious by the attack. Well, only makes sense, right?

I passed by the HELIOS One station and then found the path that Colonel Moore informed us about. She didn't tell us it was a radscorpion nest, though. Jesus Christ, I had never seen so many scorpions together in my life. But we handled them. That's what we do.

I found the place. It had a fence, lots of danger signs and bunkers hidden in the dunes. I had to find out in which bunker where they holed up in.

I must be pretty damn lucky; or pretty damn UNlucky. The first bunker I went into was the Brotherhood's. I went down a flight of stairs and through a door, but the door locked itself and left me alone in a room, while Craig and ED-E staid behind. After that three Brotherhood of Steel soldiers walked in the room by a door oposide to the one that locked itself and told me to get undressed and unarmed. I was outnumbered and the weapon I had readied wouldn't even make a scratch on their armor. So I complyed and they took me to their Elder - the leader.

The Elder wanted to know how did I find them, at first. But what he really wanted was the help that an outsider like me could give him. He wanted me to do jobs for them. Before I could even reply he had his goons strap me an explosive collar. If I wandered too far my head would blow off. The first job was to get rid of a NCR Ranger that was staying on one of the bunkers. They were worried he might find them out. I had no choice but to do it.

I went out the Brotherhood's bunker and headed south. Caught the NCR Ranger leaving on patrol. I followed him as fast as I could, so that I wouldn't catch him too far off the valley and collar would go off. I knew the model though, so I knew that once it would start beeping it was time for me to back down. I told him he had to leave because the Brotherhood had their base there and they'd sent me after him. He looked at my collar and believed me, or at least gave me the benefit of the doubt. He knew how to disarm the collar. He took it off and told me to head back to his camp to go over what I had seen and to know for sure if I indeed had seen the Brotherhood of Steel. Once he took the collar off Brotherhood members came out from behind a rock and started attacking. They must have had a microphone put in the collar and were spying on me. We killed them all, the plasma grenades I had stacked prooved quite usefull.

Dobson, the Ranger, believed me by then. He said he'd report it to the base. Now all I had to do was neutralize the Brotherhood, as was asked. I recovered a weapon from their bodies that would help me do that. Seemed quite powerful. Also recovered the bunker key from one of them. That would give me the access I needed.

I entered and they were all looking out for me. So much death... So much destruction... For the Republic. I try to blame it on them. To put the blood on their hands. But I can't wash it out of mine. Never will be able to do that.

We cleared the first level. It was rough. Both the fight and the act. I would I live with myself after this? And there was still another level to go.

The second level was filled with both scribes and heavy soldiers. And even their leader, McNamara, joined the fight. Didn't last long.

I found the Self-Destruct terminal. True that I had killed them all, but I wanted to blow it up anyway. I told myself it was to prevent more Brotherhoods to settle or to prevent raiders to get in somehow and find all that tech. But the truth was I didn't want nobody to see that. What I did. What I was made to do. So I had to find three keycards. The computer told me which ones, so I picked them up from the corpses., inserted them and ran like hell. Once I got outside, heard a big boom, the earth shook and smoke started coming out of the vents that connected the bunker to the outside.

I can't stop shaking, crying. Got to lay down,

Frank out.

Field Logs: Log #19

I reported back to Colonel Moore and she congratulated me on the good job with the Omertas. Then she said they had discovered something much worse. Mr. House. Not discovered HIM, but discovered his intentions. He was planning something to do on the Hoover Dam battle, but she didn't know what. But still wanted me to kill him. I wasn't confortable with that, Mr. House was a great man that had done sacrifices. We may not see eye to eye, but I don't think it's fair... I asked her if they had proof. She said Securitron had been sighted spying on the NCr and the Legion and that the estimated Securitron number was four times the expected. Then I asked if killing Mr. House wouldn't be bad for New Vegas. "It's not my problem".

It's for the Republic, right?

Me and Craig keep telling ourselves that.

We went all the way up to The Strip again. It was starting to get tiresome. Morale was low. Very low.

We could see the Strip in the horizon. I could only focus on the Lucky 38. It was like House was watching me, every single moment. Except this walk would be the last he'd see from me, because once I reach my destination...

I threw up on the way. Craig pat me in the back. He understood me. Following orders had never been easy. But I never had this spec ops job. I was just the medic. All this killing, we don't even know for sure if they deserve it...

Fiends... Just what I needed. And I mean it. It actually felt good to shoot my gun knowing that someone was getting what they had coming and not just because I was ordered to shoot my gun. But when I pulled my gun he had disappeared. I investigated the area where I saw him and saw a manhole. I went down and saw nothing. Was I hallucinating? Craig didn't see him, too. I'm becoming an old crook.

Only when I got to The Strip I thought: How would I get to Mr. House? I knew he had to have a body somewhere, only didn't know where. Probably would be too safely guarded and the way could only be opened by House himself. So Craig gave me the idea of a masterkey. What if there was a master key? And so I thought... The Platinum Chip. House wanted it so dearly that it should be useful for all his systems! Best shot we had, anyway. Where was the Platinum Chip?

Benny.

I went in The Tops and was stripped out of my weapons, as in the Gomorrah. So I couldn't just blast my way through the casino threatening Benny. I had to think. I saw a man on the entrance counter that looked like one of the big guys, because every staff passed by him asking questions. So I talked to him. I told him Benny was making his own play and showed him the cigarette butts that were by my grave and the lighter that I took from the Khan at Boulder City. He told me I had to find something to get him arrested and I said it was too late for that, he had to be dealt with. I just said that because he probably had the Chip with him, so I couldn't let the guy keep him of his suite.

They gave us our weapons back and we took the elevator. I was nervous. The guy did shot me in the head.

I found him. He was afraid, too. He thought I went there to kill him. He was actually too nervous. Reached for his pocket. Me and Craig put holes in him like there was no tomorrow. We needed an escape valve, Benny was it. I took the Platinum Chip out of one of his pockets and headed out.

To make matters worst, I remembered that nor Craig nor ED-E could go up with me to the Penthouse.. It was a solo mission.

I got to the penthouse and didn't say a word to the giant monitor that represented Mr. House. He was expecting me to say somthing so he didn't talk either. Once he saw me go to the terminal on the left of the monitor, though... Securitrons started rolling towards me, I flashed the Chip and inserted it. It worked! The wall opened and a room with an elevator revealed. I got into the elevator before getting too shot up. Gt some grazed wounds only. Locked the elevator behind me so I didn't have any more problems.

Then I arrived at the control room... A cryogenic capsule with a shrivled body inside. That's what the great Mr. House was. But still... I can't imagine being alive for that long... The pain. I've been around for little more than 60 years and I'm sick of this, I can't even imagine more than 200! I opened the chamber with the terminal besides it. A platform held his body vertically, gripping him and preventing him from falling off the platform and being broken like a dry leaf.

"Why have you done this? Centuries of preparation, so much good undone." What if he's right? What if he could be the best ho-- God damnit what am I saying?! The NCR... What could provide a best future than the NCR, right? I told them I was only doing this for the NCR. He called them... Snakes... And called me a... A sad, misguided whore. I froze for a second. What if he was right. All this ordering around... Just because they want to... But... Democracy... Republic... It's.. It's the best for everyone. Yes.

I quickdrew my rifle and shot him twice. I didn't even wanted to look. Just had to leave that place.

All the Securitrons on the Penthouse just stood still as I walked by and went for the elevator. A sad day for New Vegas... I guess...

Craig didn't ask any questions. Just nodded and then we went on our way to the Dam.

Colonel Moore was glad that Mr. House was not a threat anymore. She told me that President Kimball was coming to visit and preparations were being made. That was great. We needed the morale. At least me and Craig did. But she had one more mission for me before the President came though. She wanted me to find and destroy the Brotherhood of Steel. More killing. I asked if there was no peaceful solution and she just mocked me.

So I know what I must do. We're getting some rest here, then we're of to kill. For the Republic.

Frank out.

Field Logs, Log #18

We looked at each other for a while, me and Craig. We had done our mission. We were good soldiers. But did that make us good people? We wouldn't talk about it, just looked at each other. Then I finally got up. Craig looked at me for a while longer and then got up too. We met Colonel Moore at her office and told her the Khans were neutralized. "Good riddance" she said. God.

Then she gave us our next mission. We had to go The Strip, to the Gomorrah, Casino, because she thought the Omertas were having an operation against the NCR. She told us to meet Liza O'Malley at the Embassy. So we left Hoover Dan for yet another mission.

We were still stressed about the last mission so we had to blow off steam on our way. We did some target practice on ravens and bloatflies, as we found them.

So, back at the Strip. I am too old to like the noise, the lights, the casinos, the drunk people. At that point it was just annoying to have to go back there. I looked at every Securitron I passed by on my way to the Embassy, knowing that House was looking back at me. Another reason for me not to like The Strip.

We hadn't had any sleep since our mission at Red Rock, so once we arrived at the Embassy we went straight to the common rooms.

In the morning I went to the front desk to talk to O'Malley. She told me that the Gomorrah's receptionist owed the NCR and she could tell me all she knew about the Omertas as a return of the favor.

Once I entered Gomorrah I was approached by the bouncer, who wanted all my weapons. It's not like I had any choice. I talked to the receptionist and she sounded sad to be asked for the favor. I ignored that reaction. Then she told about an Omertas Lieutenent named Cachino, who had been doing side business that the rest of the Family wouldn't like. I'd try to talk to him.

The receptionist was a loudmouth. I didn't even did a two minute search and I saw a bald man coming towards me. He was Cachino and already knew I wanted to know something about him. I told him that I knew something about his side business and he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. I couldn't get him to talk. I tried to find his room, gather as much information as I could. When I found it, though, it was locked. I found Cachino again, sitted on the back of the strip lounge. It was dark, probably he didn't want anyone to recognize him. Good pick for a pickpocket. I didn't find any keys but managed to grab a note-pad-like journal. I went in the corner to read it and it had all the intel I needed. Seemed like he sold weapons and drugs aside from the Omertas. I approached him, threw the journal on the table and sat next to him. Then we started talking. His attitude changed real quick. I was able to sold him back the journal for 300 caps and get him to help me. He said the Bosses were getting weapons like they were going to fight a war with help from hire named Troike. There was also another new hire, to run the place, named Clanden. Troike was a junkhead who smuggled weapons into the Strip and had recently killed a prostitute and Clanden was just a... "shifty character". He gave me a key to the Omertas' private club and told everyone I was his friend so I could move around easily.

I had to look into Clanden and Troike. I looked around the Gomorrah. First one I found was Troike, in the Lower Lobby. I asked him about the prostitute. He said he had blacked out and when he woke she was stabbed next to him, by a knife. I asked him where did the knife come from and he said it was his own switchblade, I asked him what did he took and he told me buffout, jet and whiskey. As a medic, I knew that wasn't enough for him to blackout so much time. It seemed to me like they killed the girl and pinned it on Troike so that they could have leverage on him and make him smuggle the guns. We had to find the evidence.

I went in Big Sal's - one of the bosses - room and logged into his computer. I unlocked the safe and inside was a note confirming my suspicion. So I went back for Troike. He wasn't very pleased to know it. He'd use the note as a "get out of jail card", in case they decided to rat him out to Mr. House or the NCR. Then he was ready to tell me about the gun shipments. He said they kept the guns in the basement, that they came from a contact of his inside the NCR. That was bad. To destroy the weapons, he told me he had thermite, that could melt them all. He gave me the thermite and told me what I should do. He'd just disappear after we talked.

I went in the basement, placed the thermite on all the crates - which were a lot - and then left the room and turned on the switch he said would provoke a spark that would ignite the thermite. The whole place melted down. I had to be fast.

Returned to Cachino to see if there was anything more to do after destroying the weapons. He told me it was a nice job, but it wouldn't count for much if Big Sal and Nero, the bosses, were still alive. He had a meeting with both of them, which would be one of the only oportunities to catch them both together. He gave me a gun and led me to them.

At the meeting Big Sal told me that he knew what I had done and that I had only slowed them, not stopped. Just like Cachino had said. So I pulled off the gun Cachino gave me and started the gun fight. Blew both of their heads off. Cachino would take over the casino from there. I told him I'd keep my eyes open for trouble in the Gomorrah, so he's better watch it.

After all that it was time to return to Hoover Dam. Like the trip to The Strip, we didn't have any problems. Once again, it was nightime when we arrived so we went straight for the dorms. We smiled at each other before going to bed. I'm off to sleep now. First thing in the morning is reporting to Colonel Moore.

Frank out.

Field Logs, Log #17

Good soldiers do what they're told. Yes.

I didn't get much sleep after I've been given the new assignment. I suspect Craig didn't get any sleep at all.

But we are good soldiers. Yes.

We did some trading at the 188 Trading post to get more ammo and to see if there were weapon modifications we could use. We didn't find anything special, so we went on.

It was a long trip. None of us talked. We couldn't. I had never received orders to neutralize so many people. And Craig... Craig had his history with the Great Khans... But the NCR had given us the orders, it was something we had to do.

We were attacked by a Legionarie assassin's squad on our way. Again. Even Craig was starting to grow tired of their attacks. And each one could be the last for us... Sooner or later we had to make Caesar learn that the NCR members are not to be meddled with.

Ahead we found two Powder Gangers. They were being attacked by Fire Geckos, big ones. We could not save them. Not sure if I'd want to. I haven't run into Powder Gangers in some time, but until now they had been nothing but trouble.

We found more Powder Gangers as we got near Red Rock. They... were not hostile, as I'd thought they'd be. Especially since Craig was wearing NCR's outfit. They were near a parking lot with a shack on it. The shack, almost totally destroyed, had a manhole inside. We didn't go in. We had a job to do.

Killed two deathclaw cubs. Relativelly easy kills, if you engage them from a distance and continue firing as they come near. One of them even tried to run off.

Bonnie Springs was swarming with gangsters. We knew their kind, didn't even have to approach to know they had to be neutralized. Good target practising actually.

As I was about to enter the Great Khans lair I saw a basement door to one of the burnt down house that didn't seem destroyed. We went in, approaching with caution. Turned out to be a Great Khan armory.

We looked at each other and took a deep breath. It was as good as a place to start as any other. They didn't even see it coming. For them, I was just an old guy showing his young companion the sights.

So it had begun. We had the rest of them to neutralize. We exited the basement and got to it. Used my scoped laser rifle to desintegrate any of them walking by, one by one, without any of them noticing. As night fell, so did the Khans, one by one, shot by shot. I tried to do most of the killing, for Craig's sake.

Two poor souls had just gone to sleep and I planted a grenade on one of them. Maybe that's for the best, didn't know of anything, died on their sleep.

By 1AM only the Great Khan longhouse was left for us to kill. We assumed that would be where the leader was.

Everyone but two people were awake at the longhouse. No one knew what was going oon, so no one was bothered when a stranger walked inside. They got a little bothered when the old stranger pulled his shotgun out. A whole lot bothered when the stranger started doing what he had to do. We killed everyone. Their leader didn't even had a chance, walked out of his room to my left, still on his pajamas, scared expression because of his men, immediatly got shot in the face because of my quick reflexes. Only one man was left standing. He was not hostile, so we didn't attack. He talked to me. Said he was warned about me, because I was a great enemy of Caesar. I asked who he was and he said he was a Legion's missionary, sent to the Great Khans as a token of their alliance. The conversation ended there.

The mission was completed.

Good soldiers do what they're told.

Good soldiers do what they're told.

We made our way back to the Hoover Dam as fast as we could. We need confort and we could only find that in the arms of the nation that we love. Or it's bunker.

On my way back to Hoover Dam the Sun was rising right in front of me, over the mountains. It felt good, the warmth... I... I... The warmth of the sun on my face got mixed with the warmth that came from the tears streaming down from my eyes. For all I know, those people were trying to be peaceful and got mislead by Caesar. I... I've got no way to know now... Orders are orders...

We're back at Hoover Dam, decided to rest before reporting in to Colonel Moore.

Frank out.

Field Logs, Log #16

After exiting Nellis it was time to go back to the Strip, to report to Ambassador Crocker. I was quite happy about how I accomplished the mission. Outstanding.

I returned to the brightness, loudness and sin of The Strip, only to run to it's oposite end where the NCR was station. The civilized part f the Strip. Civilized... Most of the soldiers were drunk and babling against the Legion and the monorail attack... The monorail attack... God, do I ever do anything right...

Before reporting the results of my assignment to the Ambassador I asked about The Strip's situation. He just me that the town was full of drunks and gamblers, which I already knew. Trying to get his opinion about the NCR soldiers making part of that group didn't seem like the right move. Then I reported about the Boomers, saying they were willing to help the NCR. He was thrilled to know and asked me if I was ready for my next assignment. I was, of course. He said the NCR wasn't welcome around those parts and that the violence rate was rising against NCR citizens and the main suspects were the gang called The Kings. He had two plans. First, "remove" a member of the gang called Pacer. Second, a diplomatic approach to the gang's leader, the King. I told the Ambassador I'd remove Pacer. He was a punk harassing NCR's people.

As tactical soldiers me and Craig decided to take a look around Freeside, where Pacer usually strolls on. While on recon we found a homeless ghoul who'd give us information about Freeside (the kind of information that can be useful) for 30 caps. So I gave it a go. He gave me lots of intel, but about the Pacer character only two things of use: 1st, the Van Graffs family, the owners of the best energy weapons shop around, wanted him dead and that he had a jet problem, which he tried to deal with with the help of the Followers of the Apocalypse. I decided to talk to Crocker to decide which would be better.

When I reported to the Ambassador he had his doubts about the plan to OD Pacer, but I told him that I could easily do it with some Psycho, so he agreed to it. Fortunatly I always carry some different drugs, due to their possible medical use. That said, it was time to carry on with the plan.

By nightfall I entered the Kings' building and searched for Pacer's room (had to guess a bit actually, but got proof it was his). It had to be near the King's room, since Pacer is his second-in-command and when I found the Jet stash I knew I was right. I took a deep breath and did what I needed to do. All I had to do next was wait. We decided to sleep there in The King's Impersonation School, since they were actually friendly and had many beds layin' around.

By the morning I snuck up to the room and peeked in. His body was laying behind the bed. He didn't stand a chance. Then I exited the building, with no intention of coming back. I decided to go to the Silver Rush, Van Graffs' shop, to see if they had anything I wanted and could afford. The front guard stripped me of my weapons before letting me through. I ended up buying only ammunition and a scope for my laser rifle. At least I'll be deadlier from the distance.

I quickly went back to report Pacer's death to the Ambassador. He was pleased to know that his death wouldn't be traced back to the NCR. Another job well done. After that I asked the Ambassador to keep me in mind for any future assignments. He told me there was nothing more for me there, but Colonel Moore, at the Hoover Dam, had requested an audience with me. The Hoover Dam! I was certainly getting recognition around the NCR, which felt great. Craig was happy too. We went straight for it.

Oh Hoover Dam... When I saw it again chills went down my spine. I entered and asked where Colonel Moore might be and went meet her with a bit of a rush. I was kind of excited. She said she had a "real mission" for me, that Crocker's missions were the ones noone would take. Colonel wanted us to... Deal with the Great Khans. That did not go well with Craig. But, the mission was given. We had to do it. The Great Khans would be neutralized, for the NCR's sake.

We'll now rest at one of the common rooms. I fear Craig won't get much sleep...

Field Logs, Log #15

As I said earlier, we didn't have much of a strategy to discuss, since we didn't know what to expect. So we went in and prayed for the best. As we followed the road that would lead to Nellis a man stopped us. He told us he had some information that could help us get to the Boomers - the tribe - without being killed. He'd only give it to us for a wager though. And I'm not the wagering type. I wished him a good day and prepared for the worst, as we went up the road.

As we entered the open area, filled with ruined buildings, we heard a noise. An howitzer being fired noise. We ran to cover on the nearest building, covered behind an almost totally destroyed wall. We counted the shots that were needed before they had to reload. We both had had experience on this. When the last shot was fired we ran to another building, because we figured we didn't have that much time. And we didn't. As soon as we hid the howitzer started firing again. We waited like before and then ran, this time towards the fence. They wouldn't shoot there, so close to their base.

When I got to the gate the guarded pointed a missile launcher at me - not a slick move - and started asking questions like who were we and how did we survive. After he got his answers, his superior, Raquel, took me to their leader, Mother Pearl.

Mother Pearl was probably only a few years older than me, but still adressed me as "child". She was a nice lady, overall. She said she was having trouble in some parts of the camp. I took the chance, if I assisted them then it would be easier to convince them to fight for us, the NCR. She told me that they had many problems and gave me directions to where I could help. I decided to start by making on of their younglings happy, just by listening to their people's history.

I went in the "Boomer's museum. Inside there was a painted wall and Pete, a little child. He was cute, heh. I asked him to tell us all about his people, like he was so eager to do. After his speech we talked for a long while about these Boomers people. They were actually very interesting. Their plans for the future were to restore a Pre-War bomber plane that crashed in Lake Mead in 1948 and use it to blow up "savages". That could be of use. I told them that if they attached ballasts to the plane it could re-surface and then they could get it. Pete said that that was exactly what Loyal, a man I was still yet to meet, wanted to do.

My next stop was the ill clinic. I knew that there I could be useful. The good doctor, Doc Argylle, filled me in. There were three injured men who got to that condition by fighting some giant ants that were nesting on their generator. Yet another problem I had to take care of. But first things first. I had to ampute a leg, treat an allergic reaction to the ants' venom and treated an infection. All in a days work heh?

Then I was off to meet Loyal. Frisky old man, probably even older than Mother Pearl. He told him I could look into the solar arrays that got broken They were directly above the generator, where the ants were. So I went there. It was farther than I expected, since it should be all nearby in a base. On my way there I found Raquel and she also wanted me to kill the ants, but I told her I was already on it.

We decided to first kill the ants and turn on the generators and only then repair the solar arrays. Best that way. We went in there and started shootin' ants. When we thought we had shot every single one more appeared. And this just repeated. Then I finally, not on purpose, shot one of the artillery shells. The ant died, but my leg got pretty messed up. I was able to patch it up, with Craig's help. He turned on the generator and we exited the building. We headed to the roof and I fixed the solar arrays without a problem. Then it was begining to get dark so we wanted to sleep. We reported to them first though. Raquel was still on guard duty and Loyal was about to leave his post to go to his house. They were both satisfied with my work and told me I should return to Pearl. And so I did.

Mother Pearl decided I could be trusted. She trusted me with her people's dream. By the morning I was to talk to Loyal about bring the bomber to Lake Mead's surface.

When I talked to him he gave the ballasts I had think of too when talking to Pete and sugested me to talk to Jack about a rebreather, if I didn't think I could hold my breath. I talked to Jack and he said he needed a pressure cooker to savage parts to complete the rebreather. So I went in the Boomer's kitchen to see if I found anything. Since I didn't, I left and hoped my old lungs could take the dive.

We left Nellis and headed South. The location was almost directly South of Bitter Springs, so it wasn't very far.

On our way there we found ourselves in deathclaw territory. Shit. We tried to sneak our out to the otherside and succeeded. Fortunatly. We did not have the firepower to deal with one of those, let alone the 10 that were around us.

Then we arrived at the place that Loyal indicated us, a dock by the Lake. It was swarming with cazadores. We killed 'em off. Then I had to go in the water "bare lunged" and attach the ballasts in the plane, which was at the bottom of the lake. Craig admited to me, kind of ashamed, that he couldn't be of much help underwater. I attached the first ballast on one wing and quickly went back up. My chest hurted just before I got to the surface. Many deep breaths. Went back down again. Attached the other ballast. Returned to the port, very tired. Handed the detonator to Craig for him to push while I recovered my breath. It worked, heh.

We headed north through Bitter Springs, to avoid the deathclaw territory. We couldn't avoid it, but luckily there wasn't any deathclaws in the area no more. Probably took shelter for the night. Lucky us,

Back at Nellis, I talked to Loyal at the hangars, about midnight. He said he'd send robots to carry the plane back to the base. Then I was off to report to Mother Pearl. She was very happy with my report, thought it was a miracle. When I asked about helping the NCR she didn't hesitate to accept. She was eager to try out the bomber plane too.

Me, Craig and ED-E are spending one last night at Nellis, before returning to Ambassador Crocker.

Frank out.

Field Logs, Log #14

Before heading to The Strip itself I had to stop by Aerotech, to inform poor Frank Weathers that his family was dead. On the way I passed by the monorail tracks... Failure after failure haunted me... I eventually took off again the NCR Ranger armor. I may be back on the NCR, but I don't feel like I deserve a Ranger armor.

The poor man... His wife, daughter... Craig tried his best to confort me, but it wasn't enough...

The Strip was so close to me, though I had to enter via Freeside. I had a long walk ahead of me.

Freeside seemed mostly like a poor Strip. It had one casino, some stores... Nothing much, really. As we approached the place we figured the Strip wasn't for us. Fortunatly there was a NCR branch on the Strip. Then I finally arrived at it's gates. Apparently I had to submit to a credit check to the robots guarding the entrance, since one poor bastard who didn't was shot and blown up right in front of me. I had the bottle caps, so I submitted to the check.

Then I entered. The fabulous New Vegas. I heard only loud music and saw girls whoring up to promote casinos and... And... NCR soldiers puking all around the place... Victor appeared and talked to me. It was a nice surprise. He greeted me and then said that the Strip's leader, Mr. House, wanted to see me. For all my time in the Mojave, this was the first time I heard such a thing. No one had ever seen Mr. House. I accepted the invitation on the spot.

Mr. House was... A monitor. A... monitor... With a face on it... That talked... He asked me what did I make of New Vegas. I told him I prefered the Wasteland. He started lecturing me about how could I prefer a desert, a radioactive desert, filled with barbarians and that would eventually get me killed. But then said my talents could be put to use there, so he wanted something. I wasn't interested in working for everyone but my country, which NCR represented. No I told him I wasn't interested. He said I was the first person to enter the Lucky 38 in 200 years and that it was not an invitation made lightly. He also mentioned my courier contract. My short time as a courier was over though, I was now a part of the NCR. He told me to go, if I wanted to, to enjoy the Strip he had built. He was an arrogant bastard. He even gave me the Lucky 38's presidential suite. I left, with no intentions of returning.

Then to deal with Benny. I thought about it while on the elevator. It had to be done.

On my way out the casino a NCR trooper came to me and gave me a letter from Ambassador Crocker, the NCR representative on the Strip. That was just what I wanted, I could help the NCR instead of going meet Benny. Craig was very pleased too, though he encouraged my revenge.

I entered the Embassy, asked the secretary where the Ambassador was and then reported for duty. He pretty much opened up to me. He confessed that the NCR was in a tight spot between Mr. House and The Legion. He told me the people would suffer if the NCR fell. And he couldn't be more right!

He then told me about a tribe to the North called Boomers. They had invaluable ammunition for us and would be a great help. That is, if I could reach them AND convince them to help the NCR. The Ambassador told me they were hostile to all outsiders, so no one knew how they were.

We slept at the Embassy and in the morning headed North, where the Ambassador told us to. It was a relativelly short way from the Strip. Me and Craig stopped now to develop a strategy, even though we knew nothing about them. We advance in two-three hours.

Frank out.

Field Logs, Log #13

We left Bitter Springs and headed to Camp Golf in the morning. As with the way North from Camp Golf to Bitter Springs, on the way South we found some cazadores, but few of them which we could neutralize from a distance.

I talked with Sergeant McCredie, who was still grateful for my help at Camp Golf. I told him him what Captain Gilles needed and he happily obliged. That was it for Camp Golf, then off to Forlorn Hope.

The ways to Camp Forlorn Hope was fairly easy. We made our way from Boulder City, passing by it's beach campground and then the city itself. When we arrived, I first told Tech Sarge Reyes to tell her all the stations were upgraded and then I talked to Major Polatli and told him we were ready to take on Nelson and defeating the Legion.

I met Sergeant Cooper, who was leading the attack, outside Nelson. We were ready to teach those Legionaries a lesson. He told me that there were NCR hostages at Nelson and that the main objective was to kill Dead Sea, the Legion leader.

We stormed Nelson and killed most of the Legionaries in little time. But when I regrouped with Craig I saw the only three NCR troopers that came along dead. Before heading on to defeat Dead Sea, though, we freed the crucified NCR soldiers. Then we entered Dead Sea's bungalow. He was expecting us, but we outnumbered him 3 to 1, so we neutralized him quickly. We might have killed him, but it didn't feel like a victory.

I reported back to Major Polatli and he didn't even seem to care about the death of the soldiers in the battle. He simply congratulated me... After I recomposed myself I told him about Captain Gilles' request. After winning at Nelson, he said it wouldn't be much of a problem to reassign troops.

From Camp Forlorn Hope, my next stop would be the NCR Ranger Safehouse. My name as been carried around the NCR so I might as well get some gear to represent it. On my way there the usual Legion Assassins attacked us. Gosh, I swear, those might very well be the end of us someday.

Inside the safehouse I took the liberty of claiming a bed and a footlocker for my own. We also took a long rest. When I woke up, I undressed my armor and took a Ranger Patroling Armor from a shelve, which I wore. Next up, go to The Strip and meet that rascal Benny.

Frank, former-FORMER-NCR, out.

Field Logs, Log #12

Not aware of the time, we decided to move right on to New Vegas Clinic. Soon the night fell and we were moving through the desert in the dark, trying to be as quick as we could, not to be caught by Cazadores or some creature. But of course, things are never that simple. We were attacked by another group of Legion's Assassins and I blew most of them up with some grenades. ED-E and Craig did the rest.

We arrived at the Clinic and asked Doctor Usanagi if Corporal Betsy could come to her about treating her psycological trauma. The Doctor said that she had expertise in the area, so Corporal Betsy was good to go. Then I left and entered the Crimson Caravan, right outside the clinic. I had to find the books for Lieutenent Markland. When I enetered, Ringo, the civilian I had helped in Goodsprings, came running to me and gave me the caps he promised. I bought the books from a shop keeper and then headed out, to figure out my next move. I decided to pass by Camp McCarran to assign troops to Bitter Springs and then go to Ranger Station Foxtrot to upgrade the radio.

Craig agreed with me to spend the night walking. So we didn't rest until we got to Camp McCarran and even after we left. At Camp McCarran I talked to Clonel Hsu. Before I could say anything, he gave me a key to a Ranger Safehouse where I could rest and re-supply. I saluted and thanked him. Then I told him that Captain Gilles needed more soldiers and the Colonel agreed to reassign some.

Then we headed to Ranger Station Foxtrot. I tried to take a shortcut through the mountains but it didn't pay up, since the path was full of cazadores who found us quick enough. We hid in a Beer Brewery. There we found some ammo, so we didn't go in for nothing.

When we exited the darn beasts were still waiting for us. They attacked us over and over and I used up almost all my ammo to keep us alive. When we got past them, leaving a lot of dead bugs on the ground, I found a dufflebag which countained a reinforced combat armor. I used parts of the one I was wearing to repair the new one I had found and I got myself a slick armor. But, as Craig had warned me, the path we wanted to take was blocked by a mountain we couldn't climb. So we had to go around, fighting even more cazadores. I had had it with those bugs.

After much walking, we finally caught sight of the Station's antenna. I got to the Station and talked the Commander. Before I could say anything, she told me she needed more time for the money and thought I was with the Omertas, a New Vegas family. I was disappointed by her attitude, she was supposed to be a fearless Ranger. Still, I gave her the radio updates and left. Then it was the long ride back to Bitter Springs, to deliver the books.

We ran through the night like shadows, but somehow Legionaries squads still managed to find us. Caesar had great power, no doubt.

We finally got to Bitter Springs after a long run. I talked to Lieutenant Markland and gave him the books he asked me to get. He was very surprised and thankful.

Now we are to take a long rest. I've decided with Craig that we'd stop by Camp Golf and ask to reassign troops to Bitter Springs and then finally head to Forlorn Hope, where we'll battle the Legion and then ask Major Polatli to reassign troops to Captain Gilles.

Frank out.

Field Logs: Log #11

On our way out of Ranger Station Alpha we found some Lakelurks, but we killed them safely from the distance. I had almost forgot that, heading North, we would pass by Camp Golf. So we decided to stop by, see what we could do.

There, I talked to Sergeant McCredie, the man in charge and he told me he was having problems shaping up the new recruits. The group even got Misfits as a nickname. I told him I would try to help. So I got to know every member of the group. There was O'Hanrahan, a nice youngster, too nice even, didn't like to hurt people and suggested I talked to everyone for them to get along, Poindexter, who was a real... poindexter, talked much, but didn't say anything. Then there was Razz, who suggested to give the squad a lot of psycho... These kids. Finally I talked with Mags, which seemed to be the leader and the most reasonable. She told me the squad should be taught how to shoot and use explosives. I could do that. So I got their asses to the firing range and taught them just that.

Most of the squad really didn't like the idea, they walked very slowly to the firing range. But I would change them. After I got done with them, they were great. I was kind of proud. There was nothing else to help with, so me, Craig and ED-E continued to head on north, to Bitter Springs and Ranger Station Bravo.

We passed by Bitter Springs to go to Ranger Station Bravo first. There, I gave the upgrades to the commander in charge.

Then we went to Bitter Springs. Boone told me that the place, now a NCR Outpost, was at the time filled with Great Khans. He told me he was stationed on a ridge called Coyote Tail and was guarding the position, in case any Khan would try to escape. So we went there. There he told me that he was radioed to shoot anyone on sight, but women, children, elderly and wounded were all trying to escape. But the officers kept telling Craig's squad to shoot on sight. So they did...

He wanted to spend the night there. We set up camp and I went to sleep, while he stood on watch. Then he woke me, saying that a big Legion group was headed to Bitter Springs and told me that it could be too big, so if I wanted out he wouldn't blame me. I put my hand in his shoulder and got my rifle. I bet that if he could, he would smile.

There were three waves of them. First one got through us to the outpost, but inside we killed them. The other  two waves couldn't make it past us. We were outstanding. Then I told him that he couldn't change what he had done, but he could make it right by the path he took. He agreed with me. He did not meet his peace, but was more at ease. Then he took his 1st recon survival armor from his pack and started wearing it.

We then procceeded to talk to Captain Gilles, the one in charge of the Bitter Springs outpost, to see if help was needed. Apparently, the camp was in very bad shape. She needed more troops and more supplies. And someone had been stealing supplies and killing refugees and troopers at night. Lieutenent Markland, the medic, needed doctor bags and a medical text book that would help him learn about dealing with psychological traumas, because of all the kids in camp. I would get the books from the Crimson Caravan, when I passed by New Vegas' Clinic.

Before we left I wanted to search for the murderer of Bitter Springs. Captain Gilles said that he was a sniper, so I had a clue of where to start looking. He had to be up on the mountains. I found two caves, the first one was empty, but had a cache of supplies. The second one had a Great Khan, armed with a sniper. He was the one. We neutralized him and searched the cave. We found another supply cache. Then we reported back to Captain Gilles.

We are now resting at Bitter Springs before heading to the New Vegas Clinic.

Frank out.

Field Logs: Log #10

I reported back to Major Polatli. He didn't seem any more happy about me helping Quartermaster Mayes, since he was swimming in trouble. He asked me to help Dr. Richards with the wounded. That was my area of expertise.

Dr. Richards asked me if I had some medical experience and I filled him in. He thanked me in advance. There were three injured troopers in the tent, laying unconscious in a bed. I took care of the first one by simply cleaning his wounds, applying the antibiotics and then closing his wounds. The second one had a severe injury in his right leg, which I had to amputate. One of his hands was also wounded and badly infected, so I had to amputate that as well. The third one was tricky. He had a close range shotgun wound. I had to clean the area, apply the antibiotics and cut the infected and most of the burnt skin. He'll make a full recovery. Dr. Richards was very impressed.

I reported back to Major Polatli. He told me the NCR had to retake Nelson. He told me that the morale around camp would affect the number of soldiers I would have by my side in battle. So I asked him to postpone the attack while I took another trip around camp.

I talked to Tech Sarge Reyes. She wanted me to update the Ranger Stations radios, because she feared some of them might be under a bug and when I updated the radios all the unupdated systems would listen to only static. So I did that. I also talked to Lieutenat Gorobets about Cook-Cook raping and burning Corporal Betsy. I said I could help medical assistance and he accepted and told me to go and talk to her.

I talked to Corporal Betsy and told her that the mental trauma was just like another wound that had to be treated. So she agreed to see a Dr. Usanagi in New Vegas. But reporting back to Lieutenent Gorobets I was told that I had to inform New Vegas Clinic that Corporal Betsy was coming... Oh burocracy...

So if I had to leave camp I decided to do the Ranger Stations upgrades. First I headed to Delta, since it was very close to Camp Forlorn Hope. I delivered the upgrade to the Commander Ranger and then headed South to Ranger Station Charlie, the only one I had been before. I shortcuted through the desert swiftly with Craig and ED-E on my tail. We stopped by our motel room at Novac to sleep. Then headed back to the road.

When we were arriving to the Station we were attacked by a band of Legionarie Assassins, which we neutralized. Then headed into the Ranger Station and delivered the upgrade. Gladly they were quick jobs. Then I headed to the Station near Cottonwood Cove, further to the South.

I arrived there and I guess I wasn't surprised to see that some of the Rangers were Ghouls, given the Station's proximity to Camp Searchlight. I delivered the upgrades to the Commander. Then I had to head North of there, to Ranger Station Alpha, North of Camp Forlorn Hope.

On my way North I was approached by Private Renolds, a soldier who requested assistance. His squad was ambushed by the Legion and taken to torture in a nearby mine. I said I'd rescue his squad. I went into the mine with Craig and ED-E. Craig enjoyed this unexpected assignment.

We entered the mines and they were filled with Legionaries. They didn't give us much trouble, though. Then I located both prisioners and had to read a thing or two about lockpicking before setting them free. We followed the prisioners outside. It was a quick in and out assignment.

Going North, we would naturally pass by Nelson. Craig told me it would be easy to kill all the Legionaries on camp from the high ground, but I told him we should wait to attack along the NCR.

Night fell as we passed Boulder City and approached Ranger Station Alpha's location. I arrived and delivered the upgrade to the commander. Then I asked if there was some place I could sleep in and they pointed to a tent with three sleep rolls.

We are now planning how to procceed. We have to go to Ranger Station Bravo, which is near Bitter Springs, so we will go there next and stop by a little as Craig wanted. After we are done with Ranger Station Bravo we head into New Vegas Clinic and then to the western Ranger Station, Foxtrot.

Frank out.

Field Logs: Log #9

We exited the greenish atmosphere of Camp Searchlight to go to Cottonwood Cove. Craig (Boone) was rather excited.

We wiped out the entire camp, except for their commander (or Centurion, as they say), who was inside his building, maintaining position. Before we entered, Craig told me that he wished there were more of them, since he wasn't done yet. I smiled, as I knew how satisfying it was for him to kill all those Legionaries. Once inside, I let him do the killing. Killing a Centurion must feel specially good.

After Cottonwood Cove, Craig opened up to me. Talked about Bitter Springs, how there was a miscommunication and how what happened tormented him, even in his sleep. He also thought that what he did there was coming back to him in all bad ways. Like what happened to his wife. He told me he saw her being sold to The Legion, tracked her down with her scope and had no choice but to shoot her so she wouldn't become a slave. I asked him if he wanted to go to Bitter Springs, to see if it helped, but he refused. Only at first though. He immediatly put his hand on my shoulder and asked me, kind of shy, if I still wanted to go with him to Bitter Springs. I did and I told him so.

I killed everyone on the crosses at the entrance of the camp, to stop them from suffering. Removing them from the cross would make them bleed to death. One of them was a Great Khan.

I went back to First Sergeant Astor to report. He was very impressed with the outcome of my mission. I just saluted and headed north. It didn't take long for a group of Legion Assassins to attack me, Craig and ED-E. They did a number on my squad, but we were still able to neutralize them all. We also had run ins with golden and fire geckos. It was a troubled trip. Even young cazadores we found.

It was getting dark when we got near Camp Forlorn Hope. We then took shelter there, in the clinic. I spoke to Doctor Richards and he filled me in. The camp was going to shit. Legion was attcking hard, supplies and men were scarce. I had ran into a scared Private before heading to the clinic. He dropped a used hydra seringe. I am reporting this in the log because Dr. Richards was having problems with missing hydra. I handed him the proof and got his problem delt with.

Since the situation was so bad, me and Craig decided to report in for duty to Major Polatli. He asked me to talk to Quartermaster Mayes. He told me some of his men who were out searching for supplies were missing near HELIOS One. So I had to go there.

Once I got there Lt. Haggerty said the NCR troopers were there and she gave them the supplies. The supplies had a GPS on them, so I was able to track them down. When I got to the squad, they were all dead. And Legionaries were waiting for us. It was an ambush. We killed the Legionaries and headed back to Camp Forlorn Hope. We reported to Quartermaster Mayes and are taking a little rest now before reporting back to Major Polatli.

Field Logs: Log #8

We took the same road I had taken from Nipton to Camp McCarran, passing through Novac, only finding a small gang of misfits. The real trouble was when we approached the Legion camp area and Boon decided to shoot first ask later. It all happened fast and they were well equiped, but Boone didn't care. I had no choice but to join the fight. We won.

Nearing the camp though, it was full of them Caesar's boys. I even requested support via the NCR radio that was given to me. Then we pressed on, me, Boone, ED-E and the trooper. We killed off the Legionaries at camp, catching some of them in their morning sleep. Then we released their slaves, which got to Boone. He told me that the NCR should have more checkpoints near the river, so that situations like those wouldn't happen. I had to agree.

After releasing the slaves we went to search for Frank Weathers' familly, who too had been taken and made into slaves by The Legion. The NCR trooper left us at that point.

Nearing the location which I knew to be Camp Searchlight we found a group of Legionaries ambushing three NCR troopers. We saved the troopers and then searched for the responsibles for patroling the Camp. When we approached the town itself the air got heavy, darker. It was unlike anything I had ever seen. I found First Sergeant Astor, the one responsible for the area, who told me that the town was irradiated because of a Legion attack. After that, I went around town to the Legion camp, to find the slaves.

I discovered the camp and Boone warned me that if he saw any Legionarie he would shoot. I thought best to go back to First Sergeant and tell him about the camp, in order to avoid conflict with the NCR. When I spoke to the first sergeant he asked me to, if possible, plant a bug on the camp. I accepted the mission gladly.

It was going to be a hard one. I asked Boone and ED-E to sit tight at the entrance of the camp, while I snuck in.

The mission was a tough one. The toughest I had ever done. I snuck in the offices and retireved the documents, while planting the bug. My heart was racing the whole time, I'm surprised it didn't burst. Then I was stupid. So stupid. I freed the slaves I was there to free in first place. But while I was invisible from the stealth boy, they were not. They were shot down like dogs right in front of me, with Legionaries shouting "another kill to my name", like it was a game. Fucking savages.

I then returned to First Sergeant Astor. He was very pleased with the results of the mission. I asked if he needed anything else and he joked about killing every Legionarie in the camp. But I accepted. I really don't like those savages. And Boone apreciates it too.

We are going to rest in the NCR tent at Camp Searchlight and head to Cottonwood Cove first thing.

Frank out.

Field Logs: Log #7

I reported for duty with Captain Curtis. He suggested I asked around Camp to find some answers. Lieutenant Boyd told me there was someone sneaking in at the control tower at night, which was odd since there were only a few people with the codes. She also said she suspected Sargeant Contreras to be smuggling out weaponry.

While searching the Camp I found a female soldier crying. She said her husband was murdered by Fiends and that she could not get the NCR troops to get his body back. She said that her husband was a hero, he saved the rest of his group while he laid covering fire. He didn't deserve to be left out there.

I bought myself a Combat Armor while checking out that Contreras character. I couldn't find nothing that gave away his situation. He had a computer, but I wasn't able to access it.

Since it was still a bit early I went get the NCR Ranger's body back. I figured I should get back just in time to catch the target who was leaking information. Nearby the location that Christina, the widow, told me about there was a small NCR post with two soldiers, who warned me about the Fiends near Ranger Morales' body. I was told to get the body back to them, should I suceed. Which I did.

As soon as I got the body to the soldiers I ran to the Camp, since it was already nightime and the spy could turn up at any time by then.

I went in the tower and there was nobody there. Looked like I was still on time. After that, we just had to wait. I waited for a while and then I saw somebody walking nearby. My sneak skills are not as good as they used to be, because he spotted me. For my surprise, it was Captain Curtis. He told me that he was there to check on his Bravo Company. When I told him what I was doing there he told me to keep doing the job and to follow whoever went in the tower.

I waited a tad longer and then I saw another person heading towards the tower. My binoculars didn't show much, but he seemed to be Captain Curtis, again. And it was. He engaged me as soon as I got into the tower, so I had no choice but to kill him. He was talking with The Legion, that traitor. Got what he deserved. I got from him an activation code for some sort of explosive.

I reported back to Colonel Hsu. And when I did, the Colonel figured it out. Curtis had sabotaged the monorail that links Camp McCarran to The Strip! I ran there as fast as I could. But I was too late... Curtis probably set it up after knowing I was on to him... If only I had been slicker... ARGH!

Colonel Hsu took it too hard on himself when I reported back to him, when it was really my fault.

After being up all night me and Boone decided to get some sleep on the Camp. Just now we were talking and I remembered that Powder Ganger I had found in Nipton, who said the Legion had taken some prisioners. That's where we're headed next.

Field Logs: Log #6

Once I exited Camp McCaran I was aproached by a ranger who gave me a radio to communicate with the rest of the NCR, so they could give me back up. I was finally getting noticed again.

I headed to South Vegas Ruins, where the Fiends' base was located, Vault 3. They were ruthless but reckless. Me, Boone and ED-E meutralized the ones guarding the entrance, making then a run for the door. We had no idea what to expect inside.

They were so many inside... I almost lost Boone. But in the end he could get up. He's tough. We had a lot of cleaning up to do inside of that Vault. I had never seen so much evil together. I found Ranger Bryce Anders, a Ranger sent in by Colonel Hsu to neutralize Motor Runner. He was injured, though. He wanted to take out Motor Runner all by himself but I saw that his wound was on the verge of an infection. I cured him on the spot with one of the doctor bags I had on me. Then he joined me, Boone and ED-E in our mission to kill the Fiend leader.

That fool of a Ranger! One of his traps set off as soon as we got out of his hideout, killing him and injuring me, Boone and ED-E! Damn it. The Fiends had hostages on the living quarters of the Vault. They said there was a Fiend in the room area that had the key for their cell. Going through the rooms I saw how pittyful the Fiends were. Many of them were dead on the bed, O.D.'d from a mixture of God knows what. I freed the captives and they made their own way out the Vault. I only had to take care of Motor Runner now.

After much time inside that damned Vault, I finally disposed of Motor Runner. Took his helmet in order to proove it to Colonel Hsu.

When I exited the Vault it was nightime. I made a run for Camp McCaran, since I don't see so well at my old age and it's easier to catch me off guard at night. I slept there before reporting back to Colonel Hsu.

The Colonel was very pleased when I brought him the helmet. Then I asked him if I could look at his Legionarie POW situation. He said I could try and so I did. Lieutenant Boyd instructed me to get in the cell and beat the Legionarie Centurion until he gave us answers. It was the only tactic we had left. But I managed to get him to talk. He told me two things: one, Colonel Hsu's suspicions on someone being leaking information were true, since the Legion had a spy right there on Camp McCarran; and two, Caesar was sick. He told me he had headaches and his skin was pale. It could be many things, from a simple mindgrain to a head tumor. I'm rooting for the last one.

I reported to Colonel Hsu and told him next I'd look into the NCR leak. I'm just taking a break now.

Frank out.

Field Logs: Log #5

I stopped by HELIOS One before heading into Boulder City, to see if they needed anything. But they didn't even let me through. I understood why, they don't have room for trust. I just have to make my name known around the NCR more.

At Boulder City's entrance there was a memorial stone to the Hoover Dam battle and the soldiers that lured some Legionaries  to town and blew it up. There was a nice young soldier there, paying his respects to his older brother.

Further into town I was aproached by a NCR soldier, Lieutenet Monroe, who told me to be carefull because they had a Great Khan situation. Apparantly my attackers holed themselves in the ruins and took NCR hostages. I told him I'd sneak in there and get the hostages out, as soon as it was dark. I used a stealth boy that I got from a Nightkin to sneak in the building and releasing the two prisioners. Then the NCR took out all the Great Khans outside their hideout. But I had to get in myself, with Boone and ED-E. I went in and they didn't want to talk any, started shooting immediatly. Thankfully their aim was bad and we neutralized them. Jessup, their leader, had a note on him that was proof that he was my attacker and Benny's lighter. Needless to say, Benny wasn't with them. I'm assuming he betrayed them and went back to New Vegas.

That question resolved, I made my way to New Vegas again. I slept in a caravan protected by some NCR soldiers, maybe they were camped there.

Then heading into New Vegas I made some stops. First one was at the Aerotech Office Park, NCR territory. I talked to Frank Weathers, a man I found there. He said his family was captured and enslaved by the Legion. I said I'd help, since I already had to help the slaves that the Powder Ganger in Nipton told me about. He said they were most likely at Cottonwood Cove, a Legion camp.

I talked to Captain Parker, the man in charge of the Office Park and he told me they were having problems with missing people and with a man in the Park that had a gambling operation and was cheating people. I investigated the man first and found proof that both suspicions that Captain Parker had were true. He was both cheating and selling drugs. Then, before I reported back to the Captain, I went and searched for the missing refugees.

I went to Westside and investigated the two people Captain Parker asked me to investigate, Saint James and Durmont. Turns out they were, indeed, the ones selling the refugees. From what I understood, they were selling them to Fiends, a raider group. When I confronted them they attacked me, but I blew both their heads off. They deserved even more. They sold not only adults but teens, children and even a new born baby.

Then I went back to Aerotech Office Park. Being so close to The Strip felt... Weird.

I slept in the Park after I reported to Captain Parker and then headed off to Camp McCarran. There I found the First Recon squad, which made me and Boone smile. Then I talked to Major Dhatri and he said there were three Fiends whose heads he wanted. He'd pay me bounty money. But as long as I'm helping the NCR, I'm at peace.

Most Fiends use energy weapons. I tried one and I actually liked it... Eh, an old geezer liking the newest technology instead of the old stuff, huh?

I killed the three Fiends and got the heads, but one of them was all mangled because Boone managed to destroy it with an headshot.

Major Dhatri was very pleased when I showed him the heads, except for Violet's, although he took my word as in it was indeed Violet.

Since I was at Camp McCarran I spoke to Colonel Hsu, who's in charge. I asked how could I help and he said a lot more bad things that I was expecting: The Fiends at Vault 3 were becoming a problem, they had a Legionarie under arrest but couldn't get him to talk and someone inside the NCR was giving out information. I told the Colonel I would take out the Fiends first and rescue the Ranger they had sent there.

I'll sleep at the Camp and attack in the morning. Frank out.
